Part 3 opens with a sketchy 300-foot climb up a steep ladder in this abandoned mine. Once on the upper level, we continued exploring the Polaris Mine by making our way through endless drift tunnels and stopes where we had to cross dangerous bridges with substantial drops underneath them. We also saw some stunning, amazing deposits of copper in one area of the mine. We also found another ore cart still on the tracks in one of the drifts. Eventually we found an exit that put us 600 feet above the portal through which we entered the Polaris Mine in Part 1.

If you missed all the adventures in Part 1 and Part 2, they can be found at the following links. They feature lots of amazing artifacts including a full-sized drill, vintage ore carts, fascinating and risqué miners’ graffiti, and much more!

Thank you very much for supporting all of us as we strive to get these abandoned mines documented and preserved on video before they are lost forever due to collapse, flooding, or intentional destruction by government agencies.
