The Red Sea is smoking: from the conflict between Israel and Hamas to the US and UK attacks on Houthi positions in Yemen, tensions in the region have skyrocketed.
Now, a new conflict lurks in the Horn of Africa: relations between Ethiopia and Somalia are on the brink. The reason? A territory: the self-proclaimed independent Republic of Somaliland, which, while still a recognized territory of Somalia, has managed to reach a historic agreement with Ethiopia.
Why has Ethiopia approached Somaliland, and can this move really start a new war? Or, on the contrary, is it possible that huge international interests will prevent such a scenario?
