On the last weekend of March, several members of the Top of the Rockies Corvette Association
(TORCA) based in Longmont Colorado got to experience Southwestern hospitality first-hand when we
set out on a Roadrunner Region Gala trip to Albuquerque New Mexico. There, we were received with
open arms by the New Mexico Corvette Association (NMCA). We were thoroughly entertained, wined,
dined and even went home with a few raffle gifts and a long-distance award, for having traveled the
most miles to the event.
We arrived right on time for the opening reception on Friday afternoon and enjoyed mingling with the
local National Council of Corvette Club (NCCC) members as well as other visitors from Arizona. The next
day, we visited the Petroglyph National Monument where we were enlightened with knowledge about
early settlers in the area, geology, volcanoes, lava flows and admired many petroglyphs. After a
delicious lunch at the posh Sawmill Market, we enjoyed shopping sprees and the architecture of
downtown Albuquerque. Our hosts sure knew how to take care of us as they coordinated every detail
of each outing. It was an unforgettable adventure. We were also glad to meet other passionate
Corvette compatriots. Thank you NMCA for your warm welcome and thoughtful Southwestern
hospitality.
