About the Speaker:
Dr. Daniyan was born in Nigeria. At the age of 8, she had the opportunity to relocate to Guam, where her family served as missionaries for several years before once again relocating to Paradise, CA, where she completed her high school education.

She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Oakwood University (an HBCU) in Huntsville, AL, and subsequently obtained her medical degree from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, CA. She then went on to Internal Medicine Residency at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, which was followed by a fellowship in community medicine at Kaiser Permanente Fontana. The fellowship allowed her the opportunity to volunteer with free clinics in San Bernadino, CA, and also explore medical education teaching by volunteering at local medical schools to teach 1st/2nd medical students. It was during this time that she was first introduced to the California University of Science and Medicine, where she subsequently became a full-time faculty member until recently.

Her interests include wellness for all levels of medical education training and beyond, creating safe spaces for authenticity and vulnerability in the world as well as attempting to address the many health disparities in the community. She is proud of her newest role of Auntie to the most joyful 7-month-old niece.



About Pre-Health Shadowing:

Pre-Health Shadowing was created in response to the ongoing pandemic. Due to COVID-19, many in-person shadowing and clinical opportunities have been annulled. This has disrupted the paths of thousands of pre-health students as these hours are crucial for the academic and professional development needed for a successful health program applicant. Students interested in pursuing a career in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, research, physical therapy, or are just curious are encouraged to attend.

Pre-Health Shadowing was built to accommodate the lives of students, giving options to attend the live Zoom or review the video at a later time. Students can receive a certificate verifying their participation in the program.

We host various health professionals from different backgrounds to talk about their job, education, extracurricular activities, admissions process, daily tasks, interesting cases, tips, and more. Check out the schedule to view upcoming events.
