William talks about a number of rescue and restoration projects that he has been involved in. One of the challenges pointed out by William is the financial ramifications of restoration and maintenance, where owners rarely can recover any of the expenses of restoration when selling the boat.

To remedy this, William suggests a more open and inclusive approach to sailing and racing that would bring new groups of people into the classic yacht scene as owners and and sailors.
