Folie à Deux is the French phrase for a "madness of two".

Joker: Folie à Deux is an upcoming American musical psychological thriller film directed by Todd Phillips. The film serves as the sequel to Joker (2019). The film stars Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as Arthur Fleck / Joker, alongside Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener.

The film was revealed to be titled Joker: Folie à Deux. Later it was announced Lady Gaga was to portray Harley Quinn and that the film would be a musical.

The introduction of Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn will bring a brand-new element to Joker 2 that the first movie lacked. The Joker: Folie à Deux title hints that Harley will be as equal of a focus as Arthur Fleck. Folie à Deux refers to a mental illness that two people share, and Joker 2 will explore that by bringing Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn into Joaquin Phoenix's Joker's life.

There is still some mystery about what state Lady Gaga's character will be in when Joker: Folie à Deux begins. Her Harley Quinn could be a fellow inmate at Arkham Asylum and have a romantic connection to Arthur Fleck. It is also possible that Joker 2 will be a new take on Harley's origin story, just as the first film brought a new spin to Joker's origin.

Joker 2: Folie à Deux is scheduled to be released on October 4, 2024.
