Timestamps show that the blocks are connected in a chronological order. It marks the time for each transaction on the blockchain.
Simply put, the timestamp proves when and what has happened on the blockchain, and it’s tamper-proof.
Timestamp plays to role of a notary, and it’s more credible than a traditional one. Because nobody can alter the information on the blockchain. Given the timestamp feature, blockchain technology is suitable for areas such as intellectual property protection.
For instance, when you have written a thesis, You want to consult an industry expert before publishing, but you are afraid the expert might steal your work. Under such a scenario, you only need to save it on the blockchain to easily prove your ownership over the article.

𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐋 𝐒𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐏𝐓 𝐈𝐍 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐇 (𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐯𝐞):
Les horodatages (ou "time-stamp" en anglais) prouvent que les blocs sont concaténés dans un ordre chronologique. Ils marquent l'heure de chaque transaction sur la blockchain.
Autrement dit, l'horodatage atteste de ce qui s'est passé sur la blockchain, et à quel instant. Cet enregistrement est inviolable.
L'horodatage joue le rôle d'un notaire, et il est même plus fiable qu'un notaire traditionnel, car personne ne peut modifier les informations sur la blockchain. Grâce à cette fonction d'horodatage, la technologie Blockchain convient à des domaines tels que la protection de la propriété intellectuelle.
Par exemple, lorsque vous avez rédigé une thèse, il se peut que vous souhaitiez consulter un expert de l'industrie avant de la publier, mais vous pourriez craindre que l'expert ne s'approprie votre travail. Dans un tel scénario, il vous suffit d'enregistrer votre thèse sur la blockchain pour prouver facilement votre antériorité, et donc votre propriété, sur cette publication.
