Broadcasting contribution (GEZ) a hidden tax? Judgment of the BVerfG | Attorney Christian Solmecke

UPDATE:

On 18 July 2018, the Federal Constitutional Court ruled that the broadcasting contribution was largely compatible with the Basic Law. The situation is different with the regulation for second homes. The current legal provisions on the obligation to pay contributions for second homes are incompatible with the Basic Law. A new regulation must be adopted here by 30 June 2020. UPDATE ENDE

The discussion about the Broadcasting contribution is heated. Many are dissatisfied with the regulation and again and again it is said that the contribution should be a hidden tax. Now the Federal Constitutional Court is dealing with this case. The verdict will be passed tomorrow. The BVerfG will decide how to proceed with the broadcasting contribution. At the same time, the German radio report is also available to the European Court of Justice.
