1888 recording of the Governor General of Canada, Frederick Arthur, Lord Stanley of Preston, famed as the donator of the Stanley Cup. Once believed to be the oldest surviving recording of the human voice, it no longer holds that distinction due to more recent discoveries, it is still one of the earliest recordings of a person of historic importance.
