Three teenagers who killed 16-year-old Mikey Roynon at a birthday party in Bath have been detained.

Mikey died after being stabbed in the neck with a knife following an incident in the back garden of a house in the Weston area on June 10, 2023.

Shane Cunningham, 16, fatally stabbed Mikey Roynon in the neck with the large knife and was convicted of his murder following a trial at Bristol Crown Court.

Cunningham's two friends, Cartel Bushnell and Leo Knight, also 16, were convicted of manslaughter after being acquitted of murder.

The judge, Mr Justice Saini, ordered Cunningham to be detained at His Majesty's pleasure - the juvenile equivalent of a life sentence - with a minimum term of 16 years.

Bushnell was sentenced to nine years in jail and Knight was jailed for nine years and six months.

The judge also lifted reporting restrictions that had previously protected the identity of the three defendants.

Passing sentence, he said: "Bristol and its surrounding areas are in the middle of a plague of knife crime. That plague has continued since this trial concluded.

"The lives of boys who carry knives continue to be taken by those who also carry knives."
