The Ford Expedition King Ranch is a gentle giant when it comes to driving dynamics and performance, and a machine that uses a smooth and quiet character to help create a relaxing driving environment.
With three seating rows and enormous on-board space, the Expedition is ready to work for a growing family: second-row legroom is hilarious if you’re an average sized adult, and the third row seats are usable for adults and relatively easy to access. The power liftgate reveals a flat and wide cargo area, complete with motorized folding seats ahead of it. Just a few button taps sees the Expedition go from family hauler to cargo van in about 10 seconds.
The Expedition moves beautifully over the road. Smooth surfaces pass beneath with nearly hovercraft ride quality, and undulating roads and highways usually fail to unsettle the body — which is suspended over the wheels with trick adaptive dampers that neutralize unwanted body motions. Hit a bump or a dip and it’s up, down, and done: the gelatinous rebounding you expect in something this big and long is basically neutralized before it happens.
In this video, we take an up-close look at the 2020 Expedition King Ranch in and near beautiful Killarney, Ontario. We evaluate its interior, cargo space, engine, and suspension, and take a detailed look at the King Ranch interior treatment, too.
