A large number of academics are being affected by mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, yet, the topic is rarely discussed in an open manner.

In this video, we want to increase awareness on the topic of mental health in graduate studies and discuss the how we can prevent depression and what can be done if an individual is feeling depressed.
The "Awareness, Prevention, and Early Intervention" framework was developed in collaboration with the U of MN Student Conflict Resolution Center and was used with permission for this video.

Presentation by: Dr. Matthew Hanson.
Dr. Matt Hanson has been working in college student mental health at the University for nearly 18 years. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Mental Health Clinic at Boynton, and prior to that he was a senior psychologist at Student Counseling Services and Director for the Student Academic Success Services program. He co-chairs the Provost's Committee on Student Mental Health, is clinical supervisor for Boynton's de-stress peer helper program, and is affiliate faculty in the Department of Educational psychology at the U and in the Counseling and Psychological Services program at St. Mary's University.
