Meet Wai Yong, psychiatrist turned self-taught luthier. Intrigued by the craft when she was looking to buy a violin for her daughter, the then-practicing doctor ended up embarking on a whole new career path for herself. With the help of books, online resources and many hours of determined trial and error, she has today mastered the art and science of building stringed instruments and maintaining them for her clients.
