Benson was an American sitcom that ran for several years, from 1979 until 1986, on the ABC network. The show was a spin-off of another successful comedy called Soap, and revolved around the character of a butler named Benson DuBois. While Soap saw Benson taking care of the Tate family, Benson saw the character tasked with maintaining the household of a governor, Governor Eugene X.

As with other classic sitcoms, many of the notable cast members that featured on Benson over its nearly seven-year run have since passed away. This includes the actor that played the show’s titular character. Robert Giullaume is the actor that played the character of Benson, though he is also well known for voicing the character Rafiki in Disney’s The Lion King. Sadly, the actor has since passed away.

Many other actors and actresses that had notable roles on Benson are no longer with us, including James Wilkes Noble, Billie Bird, and René Auberjonois.
