Genghis Khan, the main Mongol political and military leader or the Great Khan, is also one of the most famous generals and commanders in history. His birth name was Temuzi. He united the Mongol ethnic groups and founded the Mongol Empire. It was the largest empire in the world in recent history. He was born into the Borzhigin clan of Mongolia. A simple clan leader raised a huge army under his leadership. Although in some parts of the world, Genghis Khan is identified as a very ruthless and bloodthirsty conqueror. Nevertheless, he is respected as a prominent person and loved by all in Mongolia. He is referred to as the father of the Mongol nation. Before becoming a khan, Genghis united the many nomadic tribes of eastern and central Mongolia under a common social identity. This social identity was called the Mongolian race.
Genghis Khan is an honorific title meaning "universal ruler" that represents an outgrowth of the pre-existing title of Khan used to refer to a clan chief in the Mongolian language. The word "Genghis" is thought to derive from the Turkic word "tennis", meaning sea, the honorific title literally meaning "ruler of the sea", but the term is used from a more broadly Mongolian perspective as a metaphor for the universality or totality of Temujin's rule.
Genghis Khan was born sometime between 1150 and 1160. I spent my childhood learning to ride horses. At the age of six, he was allowed to join his tribe on a hunting expedition. At the age of nine, his father was poisoned and the entire family was displaced. He started playing the role of head of the family with the education received from his mother. It was then that he learned the art of protecting others, which later came in handy.
Legend has it that Genghis Khan was born with a blood clot on his right hand, which was an ominous sign of the future. Temujin's mother was called Hoelun and his father Isugei, a tribal leader, arranged for his son to be married to Borte, daughter of Dei-seken, another powerful Mongol leader. Still, before this plan could be implemented, Temujin's father was poisoned by rivals. Temujin and his mother were then exiled to the Asian steppes. Fortunately, they both returned alive.
