Welcome to the ultimate iPhone 13 review, where I will cover everything you need to know. From design, storage, price, display, cameras, battery, performance and finally answering that important question of whether it is worth upgrading to the iPhone 13. Whether you are coming from the iPhone 12, iPhone 11, iPhone XR or even the iPhone X. Design. Same sharp more angular design from iPhone 12. Matte aluminium sides on the frame with glossy glass back. Although not as premium as stainless steel iPhone 13 Pro, I prefer the matte frame on the iPhone 13. The phone is slightly thicker and heavier, only minimal, for bigger battery. Providing a solid feel in the hand, very well built and put together. New colours, I chose midnight, love subtle blue undertones. Indoors almost looks black, outdoors that midnight blue comes through. If you don’t like finger prints, I suggest a lighter colour (starlight, pink, blue or product red). Display. OLED display, same thin bezels as on 13 Pro. Now brighter, 800 nits and 1200 nits HDR. Colours pop and bring content to life, videos, games and text. The 6.1” screen size is perfect. If you want 120 hz you will have to get the iPhone 13 Pro. 20% smaller notch, nice to have. Face ID, is great, remains fast and safe. Cameras. Much improved dual lens camera system. Dual 12mp on back, wide and ultra-wide, telephoto only on iPhone 13 Pros. New features, Cinematic mode, Improved low-light, Photographic styles. 4K 60fps video also in HDR - good enough to use for YouTube. Sensor shift stabilisation, almost gimbal level of stability. Extra wide selfie camera option. These cameras provide beautiful photo and video. The image is clean and sharp even in difficult lighting, colours are vibrant, skin tones are natural, dynamic range (light and dark) is amazing. Battery. iPhone 13 has a bigger battery, 2.5hrs more than iPhone 12. Lasts a whole day. Even getting one and half days days of use. Performance. A15 processor, faster CPU and GPU performance. Smooth and fast, never lags. Switching apps. Gaming. Editing RAW photos. Where this performance increase will show the most is in the years to come. Great to have 128gb storage, I got 256gb. Apple only extending software support for their phones, expect 5 to 7 years of software support! Should you upgrade? Coming from iPhone 12? No. But most coming from older model iPhones, like me. iPhone 11? Yes is a big enough upgrade, but iPhone 11 can last another year. iPhone XR or X? Yes, big upgrade! iPhone 8 or 7? Yes, a completely new experience! Tip: Get the 13 over 12 because of: double base storage, better cameras, smaller notch, faster processor and bigger battery. As for whether you should get the 13 or the 13 Pro, only go up to the Pro Max if you really want a 120 hz display or the triple camera system. My advice for most (myself included) is to go for the 13, you wont regret it!
