This is where my AMG GT R Pro comes into its own! For my first ever outing at Donington Park, there may be sketchy conditions but the the Pro is well up for the task, and somehow I also have the crazy opportunity to get behind the wheel of a 911 GT3 Cup racecar!

Logically, you might think I should have sold the GT R Pro when the Roadster arrived, or perhaps not have gone for the pair of them together, but my laps at the Nurburgring this summer taught me that the Pro is at home when you get it to a race track, so that's exactly what we're doing. Joining Contemporary Classics and Axiom at Donington Park for a day organised by Vertex, despite the slight damp and therefore tricky conditions, it's up for a lot of fun.

After warming into the GT R Pro, I have a crazy opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in livery of The Glenturret from Axiom. With a direct back to back opportunity it gives me a huge sense of how much difference there really is with grip levels and getting the tyres to usable temperature faster. The sound of the Cup is spine tingling, the rawness that comes from everything going on is overwhelming, but the level of communication back from the car tells you exactly what's going on to give the confidence to drive it hard.

I don't know what the future will be for my AMG GT R Pro, whether I'll end up keeping it after the arrival of the GT Black Series, but for now at least it's an awesome member of the Shmeemobile.
