Diesel & Alcohol in an OIL LANTERN.
I was using Diesel fuel (ULSD) with some 90% alcohol in my kerosene heater last year that has a 100% COTTON wick and it saved a lot of money over using the much more expensive kerosene. So I thought I would try the ULSD diesel fuel with some 90% alcohol in this kerosene/oil lamp and see how it works. I left this kerosene/oil lamp on for many hours and it performed flawlessly with the ULSD diesel fuel with the 90% alcohol added to the diesel fuel. I would assume that lamp oil would burn cleaner than even kerosene since lamp oil is more highly refined than kerosene, but the ULSD diesel fuel with some 90% alcohol seemed to work just fine in this oil/kerosene lamp. You need to trim the wick to adjust the flame so the flame in the oil/kerosene lamp doesn't flicker so it won't smoke, but you still need to adjust the flame on the oil/kerosene lamp even when using ultra-refined lamp oil. An oil/kerosene lamp will smoke even when using lamp oil if the wick is turned up too high. An oil/kerosene lamp is extremely easy to maintain, clean or replace the oil/kerosene lamp glass or change the cotton wick in the oil/kerosene lamp.
Using ULSD diesel fuel with some 90% alcohol will save a lot of money running this oil/kerosene lamp (lantern).
