In this video, Dr. Stills will explain:
- How long you should try to conceive naturally before seeking medical intervention
- Thyroid Function and the role of progesterone: If the thyroid isn't functioning normally, it will not produce enough progesterone to conceive or sustain a pregnancy. Dr. Stills suggests testing your TSH, Free T3, Free T4, Anti-TPO, Thyroid Antiglobulin Levels, and Reverse T3 to get a clear picture of your thyroid health. Progesterone = Pregnancy. Low thyroid hormone = low progesterone.
- How stress, high cortisol and poor adrenal function block fertility and reduce chances of conceiving. Dr. Stills suggests a Four-Point Saliva Test to check bioavailable cortisol levels.
- Why Heavy Metal Toxicity could be the underlying cause of infertility. Mercury, lead, arsenic, and cadmium get stored in fat cells and can reduce fertility. Detoxing heavy metals is especially important prior to conception, as the baby can act like a chelating agent in utero, absorbing heavy metals from the mother.
- Why natural infertility treatments may be more effective and less invasive than conventional drugs, with fewer side effects
- How mental and emotional blockages may subconsciously affect fertility
- Hormonal Imbalance: Estrogen, progesterone, and other reproductive hormones need to be in correct proportion to each other in order to conceive and sustain a healthy pregnancy. Dr. Stills suggests a 24-hour Urine Test to assess hormone balance.
- The importance of using bioidentical hormones rather than synthetic hormones to treat hormonal imbalance
- Nutrition, including healthy foods to improve fertility. Dr. Stills suggests removing food sensitivities, soda, and processed food from your diet, and adding healthy fats, nutrient-dense vegetables and complex carbohydrates to your diet to improve infertility.
- Sleep: 8 hours of sleep, from around 10pm - 6am is crucial to improving fertility and correcting hormonal imbalance, because our hormones (especially reproductive hormones!) rebalance while we sleep.
- Exercise: Fertility is dependent on a healthy body, and that includes your weight. An exercise routine will help you maintain a healthy BMI while reducing stress and increasing circulation and lymphatic flow.
- Male infertility: It's important to have your partner checked to make sure his sperm motility and overall health is optimal, and verify that he is not the cause of infertility.
