When it comes to ethnic rhinoplasty, one thing we often see is noses that are a bit flat or don't have enough structure. Our goal is to make the nose look better proportioned by adding support to both the bridge and the tip, often using rib cartilage grafts, like we did for this patient. Even though this actually makes the nose bigger, the way we build up the bridge and define the shape makes it look smaller in relation to the rest of the face.

Narrowing the nasal bones just right is another important step to get the look our patients are after. This makes sure the height of the bridge and the width of the nasal bones fit together well.

For those with really thick, oily skin, taking out a little bit of fat, or defatting, can help the skin sit nicely over the new shape of the cartilage.

Sometimes, we go for a bit more lift than might seem necessary at first. This is because we're planning ahead for how the nose will settle once the swelling goes down, to make sure it ends up looking just right.

Here's our patient a few days after surgery. Yes, there's quite a bit of swelling, but he's already looking great. We're excited to see his progress in the upcoming weeks and months!
