This Intamin Surfrider (formerly know as Half Pipe Coaster) uses a multi-pass LSM (Linear Induction Motor) launch to propel riders back and forth up an 88 feet (27m) tall U-shaped track at speeds up to 43.5 mph (70 km/h) as they free spin around on two sets of outward-facing seats.
The first half pipe coaster opened in 2003 at Särkänniemi Amusement Park in Finland and four more were in operation by 2008. A decade later the model name was changed to Surfrider after the half pipe coaster at Wet'n'Wild Water World is Australia and this one opened another year later. The last one to open was in 2020 at VinWonders in Vietnam, with the relocated Surfrider down under set to open at Warner Bros. Movie World in 2024.
