Each year, the first outrigger canoe race for the Kauai Outrigger Association (KOA) is held at the Waimea Pier as part of the annual Waimea Town Celebration. This year's race was held on Saturday, February 25 and was organized - as always - by the Kilohana Canoe Club. During the two heats that were held, a total of 34 boats competed. It was great day and if you weren't there, then you need to figure out what's wrong in your life and sort it out so you can come be a part of this great community!!!

The boat seen near the beginning - the one being used to place the turn markers - is owned by Abraham Apilado. That's the boat he uses to run sportfishing charters at Ehukai Fishing (ehukaifishing.com). Abraham is a great guy and KOA extends gratitude to him for providing support boat service for this race. If you're interested in doing some fishing on Kauai then please go to his website to learn more.
