A lot goes into getting a sprint car ready for a race, and we were lucky enough to join Riley Fricke as he helped to prepare Alex Davenport's 305 sprint car for an evening of racing at Eagle Raceway; albeit a very hot evening of racing!

Riley Fricke is the Crew Chief on the 25A Alex Davenport Racing 305 Sprint Car, and he also works as a sales agent at Speedway Motors. Riley got into racing thanks to his dad, Tim, who also works at Speedway Motors as a sprint car technician.

Riley always had dreams of one day racing his own sprint car, but health problems derailed those plans. He has since embraced the role of crew chief and now says he loves turning wrenches and setting up the car for Alex.

Alex used to live near the Eagle Raceway and always wanted to race, so he started out with a go kart in 2015 and transitioned to a sprint car two years later. Once Riley joined as his Crew Chief, the team started finding more success on the track.

The two are now brothers-in-law, but they first met because Alex’s dad, Dan, used to come into Speedway Motors to ask for advice on Alex's new 305 car.
