This is a short video showing how to cure an intermittent red oil pressure light on your Audi A4. Sometimes the red oil pressure light will come on because of a faulty oil pressure sensor switch which is relatively easy to change by yourself.

Another common reason why you might get an intermittent red oil pressure light, especially after long journeys, is if you have an older high mileage engine and are still running 5W 30 oil. Sometimes a simple oil change with a thicker oil such as 10 W 40 will cure the issue.

If your red oil pressure light comes on and stays on permanently, it is imperative that you have your engine checked out. If your engine is not getting oil, you will often hear a loud clattering sound and if you drive the engine in that condition you are likely to do irreparable damage.
