Roald Dahl is the controversial author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which has now been spun off into Wonka, starring Timothy Chalamet, Olivia Colman and Hugh Grant.

Wonka provides an origin story for Willy Wonka, the chocolatier famously played by Gene Wilder in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and Johnny Depp in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It is directed by Paul King and produced by David Heyman.

Roald Dahl was also the writer behind Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, The Fantastic Mr Fox, The BFG, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and The Witches.
