In this episode I provide the history of French automaker Renault's attempt to gain a foothold in the American car market in the 70's and 80's, most notably with the Le Car, a rebadged Renault 5, and later with the Alliance and Encore, the first French-designed cars built in America. After gaining an almost 50% share in American Motors, they couldn't stem the tide of sales losses, being later sold to Chrysler, and their last two models being sold under Chrysler's Eagle brand for a short time before leaving the American market for good.
