For today's unboxing review we have the 2017 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive. Yes, it's a pure EV. And yes, we were very impressed by it. Despite its boring interior and exterior design, the B-Class EV features a drive system courtesy of Tesla - a lithium-ion battery packed under the floor and a 132 kWh electric motor under the hood. Fully charged, it's good for 87 miles of all-electric range.

Performance? Decent, like 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds, which is thanks to a total of 177 hp and 251 of instant torque being delivered to the front wheels via a single speed transmission. You should think of the B-Class EV as sort of a place holder for the automaker until more EVs arrive, which will happen fairly soon. In the meantime, we think the B-Class EV has gone unnoticed long enough. With seating for up to five, it's an excellent everyday vehicle that does everything very well. Yes, it's driving range isn't anywhere near a Tesla's 200+ range, but this thing is an awful lot cheaper than what Elon Musk is asking for his car. Base price: $41,450. Oh, and don't forget to factor in thousands of dollars of tax credits, depending on which state you live. Enjoy the review!
