Anand Bhaskar, the lead singer of his namesake band “Anand Bhaskar Collective” has made his mark in the music industry by exceptionally marrying the sounds of Indian classical and heavy alternative rock. A songwriter and music composer, Anand wrote his first song in Hindi called “Hey Ram” after the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai - a song about communal and religious hatred. Sparked by this, he continued writing songs and started ABC as a solo project which quickly turned into a multi-membered band. They have produced two widely-received original albums: Samsara and Excuse Me. Anand Bhaskar has also worked on several projects in the Indian film industry, with his music in several Hindi and Malayalam movies and shows, including Mission Mangal, Baaghi 2, and the TV series Mirzapur. He is also the voice behind some of the biggest TV commercials and has sung the official anthem for Rajasthan Royals in 2019. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
