This video shows how the removal (and putting on) of a heavy pickup topper all by yourself. Can be done safely in just a few minutes without any help. Be sure that the posts are buried into the ground deep enough to support the weight of the topper as well as the bolts or rods used to hang the topper up are strong enough to support the weight. I use chains so they don't weather but whatever you use make sure they are strong enough to hold the topper. I also secure the topper with a rope around the entire thing so the wind won't blow it off. Also, make sure the support rods (square tubing) is high enough off the ground that you can drive under it and that when you drive away it doesn't take the topper with it. Be careful backing up when loading that you don't hit the topper in a way that might break your rear window. I learned this the hard way. Also, I am not responsible for any damage to your topper, pickup, yourself, or any one else should you use this method. This is simply a suggest way to load and unload our topper by yourself. It is not a commercially tested device or a means that will guarantee your safety or the protection of any property at any time while in use or while loading or unloading. In addition, even though you will only be lifting a corner of the topper at any time, I am not responsible for any injuries that might occur while lifting. Make sure you are able to safely to this before attempting.
