Hey, TheThings fans! Welcome back to another video. This one is for all you Potter Heads! When you think about the Harry Potter franchise, besides the golden trio, what other iconic characters stand out to you? We’re willing to bet a lot of you immediately thought of Bellatrix Lestrange.

Sure, she’s unforgivably evil, but we can’t deny how well Helena Bonham Carter brought her to life. However, what if we told you that Helena Bonham Carter wasn’t the studio's first choice for the character. Or that she was so close to never being cast in the franchise at all.

It may seem hard to believe but another Harry Potter actress, the late Helen McCrory, was the one originally cast. However, she had to turn down the role.

Are you ready to find out what really went down between the two actresses and how the studio eventually pieced together the Lestrange sisters? By the end of this video you’ll have a new found respect for these actresses and everything they went through to bring these Slytherins to life.

All in all we’re glad we had Helena bring Bellatrix to life, the Harry Potter franchise wouldn’t be the same without her. However, it’s still fun to imagine what the films could have looked like with Helen McCrory as Bellatrix instead. Would she be as dark? As wild? We’re discussing all the possibilities with you.

What did you think about the whole casting situation? Let us know in the comment section below. Thanks for watching!
