Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace hit cinemas in 1999, the first star wars film in 20 years.

When Darth Maul appeared at the start of the Duel of the Fates, the fan reaction to the first ever double bladed / double ended lightsaber was insane. The lightsaber duel between Maul, Qui Gon Jinn and Obi Wan Kenobi which then followed remains one of the greatest lightsaber fights in Star Wars history.
