This is a kinetic steel sculpture called "The Dragonfly". It is mostly made of scrap steel components found around the farm. It includes a plow disk, a cultivator tine, chain and re-bar as well as a series of forged rods used for the wings. For this piece I was working with a simple means of balancing a part in a 1/2 tube. This piece does move slightly in the wind but for the full effect is it best to gently start the wings. I started with making a single balanced part and the dragonfly design came from how I felt this part looked and moved.
