As long as I can remember, Volvo always evoked memories of reliability, safety and frugality - but certainly not luxury, style and performance. In a remarkably short period of time, Volvo has changed the game and shed its former drab image. What’s more impressive is that they have done it without compromising those core values that made the company. With a commitment to reduce fatalities to zero by 2020, and to have all electrified vehicles in the not-too distant future, you can tell they are serious about development. What many saw as the brand’s demise, being bought by Chinese investors in 2010, seems to instead have set the company on a meteoric rise.
We’ve had the pleasure of testing out several models from this new breed of Volvo, from the full-size three-row XC90 to the S90 sedan and the brilliant V90 Cross Country wagon - but the bread and butter for Volvo is sure to be this mid-size SUV the XC60. Keeping the successful and jaw-dropping exterior design, this new truck looks like a slightly downsized version of it’s bigger brother. The signature grille up front, clean lines throughout and an unmistakable design DNA come together to form a strikingly handsome and refined vehicle.
