This 4runner with the 3VZE 3.0L V6 has some pretty serious rod knock. A lot of times people try to pass off rod knock as lifter tick, belt tension issues, timing chain slap, or piston slap. But in my experience it's usually rod knock, even if the oil is fairly clean.
