The 2024 Chery Omoda E5 is looking to shake up the highly competitive small SUV segment by introducing yet another new fully electric model. As such, the new Chinese contender goes tyre to tyre with the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro EV, among others in a class that's increasingly growing in size.

So, what does the new Omoda E5 have going for it? Well, it uses the Omoda 5 crossover as its base, but swaps out its petrol engine for an electric motor, which produces 150kW of power and 340Nm of torque. The fuel tank is also replaced by a battery, which enables a WLTP-certified driving range of 430km.
