The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is slightly thicker and doesn't fit into the 2016 (SM-R323) or 2017 (SM-324) Samsung Gear VRs. This simple mod to older generation of the Gear VR can be retrofited to fit the Note8. Saving you $129 for the latest generation VRs that have no advantage besides being able to fit the larger Note 8.

You can also try Note 9 and Galaxy S9 and S10 as well but will need rubber bands or something to have it hold on the case as it doesn't click into the case due to the size of the Note9, S9+ & S10+ for the pre-2018 Gear VRs.
