A Design (Communications) graduate of W.I.T. Ireland, Paul has been working in the international animation and film business since beginning his career with Dublin based Don Bluth Studios in 1987 on such films as Land Before Time and All Dogs Go To Heaven. He has enjoyed a wide and successful career in animation design, story, and directing and has worked in many branches of the cinematic tree. He has worked as far afield as the UK, EU and Eastern Europe, and with Australia and the USA. He has also taught at the world-renowned Ballyfermot and DLCAD animation colleges in Dublin and organized and tutored storyboarding courses for Screen Training Ireland.

After a spell animating for Richard Williams on The Thief and The Cobbler, Paul returned to Ireland in the early 1991 where he animated Kim Basinger's lead character, Holly Would, in Ralph Bakshi's Cool World. Soon after he began to actively pursue what would eventually become Dagda Film, one of Ireland's first indigenously owned animation studios. Dagda Film contributed design and animation to the German feature, Felidae and the animated adaptation of Pippi Longstocking and Terry Pratchet's Discworld among other projects for the USA and Europe.

In the early to mid-1990's Paul began to attempt the adaptation of the Irish myth Cúchulainn for the screen. Tentatively called The Hound of Ulla the project has been generously supported by The Irish Film Board, Northern Irish Screen and ITV Global in the UK. This project is now intended to be live action and is ongoing with a graphic novel in the works and a projected release date of 2014.

1995 saw Paul recording and releasing a self penned album, The Moss House, and exhibiting his paintings in The Galway Arts Festival along with having LA based studio Klasky Csupo (of Simpsons/Rugrats fame) develop his original screenplay called Over The Hill. Paul was eventually drawn back to animation in 1998 when an opportunity to work with Deane Taylor (Nightmare Before Christmas) arose in the shape of Taylor's feature film Carnivalé. The film was produced in Dublin, Madrid and Eastern Europe where Paul supervised the film's international animation teams for over 2 years. Paul also completed character design and visual development for this spooky spin on amusement park oddities.

In 1999 Paul wrote and directed the 7-minute allegorical spoof on 800 years of Anglo/Irish history, called Gardens, under the Irish Film Board's Frameworks initiative. The short was well received in the Galway Film Fleadh and Dublin Film Festival of that year. The year 2000 saw Paul taking on the role of Sequence Director for Help I'm a Fish, directed by Stefan Fjeldmark of renowned Danish studio A Film, for Irish co-producers TerraGlyph's studios in Dublin and Madrid. In 2001 Paul provided conceptual art to a script that was to eventually grow into his feature debut Happily N'Ever After. His involvement in the development of the film led to his taking over of its reins in early 2002.

Paul returned to Ireland In 2006 where he re-established his company PillarStone Productions as a development powerhouse. After working on some lower key projects Paul reignited the development of the Cúchulainn feature, now called Hound, with Oscar winners BreakThru Films.

Since returning home in 2006 Paul delivered the self-penned live action horror short, Comb, which was screened at a number of festivals and the award winning animated short Hamster Heaven (one of thirteen shorts produced for BreakThru Films' celebration of Chopin's music, The World of The Flying Machine). From 2009 to 2011 Paul was part of the Story team on Aardman/Sony's recent smash hits Arthur Christmas and Pirates - Band of Misfits. Earlier this year Paul designed and directed a pilot for an adult animated series set in ancient Rome with Oscar nominated Brown Bag Films called Wooden Sword. He also contributed story development to BreakThru Films' upcoming animated oil painted feature documentary on Van Gogh, Loving Vincent and directed two rock music promos for up and coming Irish band, Amber JEAN.

He is currently producing and directing two exclusive documentary style films for a new Medieval Museum opening in summer 2012 in his home Waterford, Ireland. Incorporating live and an animation these films will only be screened in the museum theatres.

Paul continues to develop projects and offer his services to animation, live action, publishing, and multimedia through his company PillarStone Productions.
