Here's a quick guide for a 2020 BMW X3 M40i DME Removal.

DME Removal starts at 8:30 minute mark.

EDIT to Recommendation is to disconnect the batter in the trunk instead of using a trickle charger. I personally had no issues, but better to be safe.
This should be similar to other B58 engine models. Supra, M40i, M340i.
