Ulrike Malmendier (Haas School of Business) presented her research showing how inflation experiences have long-lasting effects on individual behavior. The extent of the impact depends on the duration and severity of the experience.

She is the recipient of the 2023 Skandia Research Award on Long-Term Savings. She is one of the most cited researchers of her generation in economics and finance. She is also a member of the German Council of Economic Experts.
