Hey guys I wanted to put up a video about this $11,000 option, the bmw frozen paint, because it's a big annoyance for me right now. The i8 is a great buy so far and has honestly been a blast to have around. The balance of comfort, performance, and technology, with of course of the futuristic looks makes it an all around great car.

In this video I just wanted to show some of the issues I have with the Protonic Frozen Black paint and issues that I imagine other owners with these frozen colors may have. Some of these issues may be specific to frozen black, but the added care needed for the frozen paint is going to make it hard to add into a rental fleet for most owners.

The idea with this car is to see it rent at about $200 a day on Turo for half of the month where it should actually make a little bit of money over the car payment and insurance. The first month the car more than paid for itself, but the accumulation of damages from the sensitive frozen paint are starting to become a concern. Today we took the i8 to the body shop to check out what the repair process might look like for the current scratches, and what I might want to do going forward.
