A study led by the Telethon Kids Institute has suggested vitamin D supplementation in babies is no match for sunlight when it comes to preventing eczema.

Senior Researcher Dr Debbie Palmer explains that while daily supplementation from birth to the age of six months did result in higher vitamin D levels, the babies who received it did no better when it came to avoiding eczema than babies who received a placebo. Rather, it was those who had been exposed to direct sunlight who were more likely to avoid eczema.
