At 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers were made aware of an experienced thru-hiker in distress near Mount Bond in Lincoln. Concerned acquaintances had contacted NH 911 after speaking with the hiker by cell phone. The solo male hiker was identified as 37-year-old Christopher Roma of Thornton, New Hampshire. He was a well known hiker who hiked extensively throughout New Hampshire’s White Mountains and throughout the United States. It took rescuers until 5PM the following day to finally reach Chris Roma, at which time he had already perished.
