Restoring trees is one of the most effective ways to fight climate change. Research has shown that there is room for an additional 1.2 trillion trees on our planet, and these additional trees would have the carbon storage capacity to cancel out a decade of emissions.

Initiatives around the world are transforming urban and rural spaces into green zones that capture carbon, regulate air temperatures, and support biodiversity.

Malaysian property developer, Gamuda Land, is building a greener future by aiming to plant 1 million trees across its properties by 2023. At its 90-acre wetland park and arboretum at Gamuda Cove, the company will conserve 3,000 indigenous trees and plant another 7,000, helping to decrease local air temperatures by several degrees, and creating a base for wildlife conservation, and wetlands and forest research. The arboretum will also function as a seed bank for native species, with nurseries to support the growth of endangered species.
