This is my entry for The Tarot Contest. I decided to pick Star Wars as my fandom and the Lovers card, and I wanted to represent both the upright and reversed meaning of the card. I researched this card a lot and found that it summed up perfectly the dynamic between rey and ben solo/kylo ren

Upright: The Lovers card signifies kindred spirits and an intense bond between two people. It is more than infatuation; there will be an intense attraction and sexual passion as well as romance and a deep connection and mutual understanding
Reversed: They may not be on the same page in important areas, and may have different goals, values or hopes for the future

Prepare for a ramble…

I feel this was the perfect card for Rey and Ben. There is real tension and attraction, and they are bonded together by the force and his past with Luke. However, they have different hopes; Rey wants him to join her in the resistance and the light side, but Ben wants Rey to rule the galaxy with him. She in the end refuses his offer because what she wants is too different, and once again they are on opposing sides.
In TLJ we see that they are stronger together, when they fight together against Snoke and the praetorian guards, and we finally see the force in balance. They are like yin and yang; Ben being dark but with light in him, and Rey belonging to the light but with darkness in her. They are getting closer to achieving balance in TLJ; anakins lightsaber no longer goes just to rey like in TFA, instead it goes to both of them and splits into two.
I think in episode IX they will realise that she doesn’t belong with the Jedi and he doesn’t belong to the dark side, and instead they will find a balance.
Han and leia both come to the realisation that their son is lost to the dark side, han in TFA and leia in TLJ. Interestingly though it is luke who tells leia that he isn’t really gone, even after everything that has happened between him and ben, and it’s luke saying “no one’s ever really gone” that makes me think that ben will be redeemed in episode IX.


I know the editing in this is simple but i wanted the voiceovers to be the focus of the video, and wanted to try and show the parallels between rey and ben. I hope i showed the proper meaning of the card and that you guys like the edit.
