Meri's story begins in January of 2023. After she experienced the sudden and traumatic loss of her right leg, amputated above the knee, Meri began the process of being fitted for a prosthesis. Little did she know that by the time her device was ready to be delivered, her insurance would no longer be active. Paying for such a prosthetic out of pocket was out of the question, but with the support and assistance of her prosthetist Ashley Eaton at Hanger Clinic, Meri applied for assistance with Steps of Faith. Three weeks later she was up, standing, and walking with her new leg.
