This is how I modified the Creality CR-10 to an engraving tool! By using a small electric motor and a PWM controller attached to a 3D printer makes you able to create incredible 3D illusion patterns. I designed a motor mount which I 3D printed and after connecting the electronics the 3D printer was ready to be used as a CNC. I also 3D printed a base in which a sheet of acrylic was placed. With a strip of RGB LED lights the acrylic was illuminated and the engraved pattern would light up!
