Deepak Chopra is one of the most well-known and influential promoters of alternative medicine and new age spirituality in the world. Chopra, a medical doctor, first gained popularity after his appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1993. His 90+ books combined with his education and public speaking skills have helped him garner an international following of millions of people and a net worth of tens to hundreds of million of dollars.

But while he is loved and respected by many, Chopra doesn’t exactly have a pristine reputation and some people question whether he even believes what he says or if he’s just looking to make money off the popularity of the alt med and self help industries.
