IFTF Foresight Talk: Contextualizing Foresight Tools to Interrogate Gender Norms in Mexico and Guatemala with Sophia Arrazola & Jesica Bastidas, Directors of Mi Calle Nuestra Calle

Mi Calle Nuestra Calle (My Street, Our Street) is a community laboratory of art, research, and future studies with a gender and human rights perspective, founded in Mexico in 2020, that advocates for the design of methodologies adapted to urban and rural contexts. Its founders, Sophia Arrazola and Jesica Bastidas, recognized that many women in Mexico and Guatemala were too busy to fully appreciate their agency in their own lives. Join IFTF in a conversation with these practicing artists and futurists about participatory futures as a method for informing and discussing human rights, particularly in communities that are typically left out of futures conversations. In addition to photos and videos of their work, they’ll share their unique approach to working with communities in their countries, translating and adapting tools so that they can be widely accessible, and how they use art as a trojan horse for talking about the future.
