Globally renowned singer-songwriter and philanthropist Chance the Rapper exchanges with Lauren Haynes, Director, Curatorial Affairs and Programs, Queens Museum. They will discuss the mutual influence of hip-hop and other cultural fields including the visual arts, and how to champion and empower the next generation of creatives.

Hailed as ‘a generational voice’ by GQ, multiple-Grammy award-winner Chance the Rapper has built a multifaceted career, redefining what it means to be an independent artist. Chance is currently on a path to intertwine the worlds of art, music, and cinematography through groundbreaking work and installations, as he prepares to release his next body of work, Star Line Gallery.

Lauren Haynes has been Director of Curatorial Affairs and Programs at the Queens Museum since July 2022. In this role, Haynes leads the exhibitions and public programs team at the Museum and works with this team and others to develop the overall vision for exhibitions and programs at the Museum. Prior to joining the QM, Haynes worked at museums across the United States including Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Studio Museum in Harlem. Haynes is a specialist in contemporary art by artists of African descent. Haynes was a 2018 Center for Curatorial Leadership fellow and a recipient of a 2020 ArtTable New Leadership Award. Since 2022, Haynes has been a member of the board of the Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) and AAMC Foundation.
