A series of social media posts featuring an individual wearing a clown mask while driving a luxurious Mercedes-Benz on Muruwai beach in Auckland, has attracted the attention of a specialized police anti-gang unit, which has lead to the arrest of a patched member of the Head Hunters motorcycle club for traffic violations. However, the accused member has dismissed the investigation as useless and anticipates that the charges will ultimately be dismissed by the court.

Videos posted to Instagram in April depicted a Mercedes-Benz G Wagon and an ATV speeding along Muriwai Beach, with the driver wearing a clown mask. Both vehicles were confiscated by police, as police announced charges against a 38-year-old Head Hunter for driving while disqualified and causing "sustained loss of traction." Additionally, eight motorcycles were seized from his motorcycle shop in West Auckland, some belonging to fellow Head Hunters, due to unpaid fines and other driving offenses. These additional seizures were termed as the "icing on the cake" by law enforcement, following their investigation into alleged reckless driving on the beach
